Meet The Director

Hello my lovelies, I thought I would take a few moments to introduce myself! My name is Mary Kathryn Rivera, and I have been in musicals since I was a student at Millikan High School and in church productions before that! I have been teaching over 20 years and I have had the privilege to teach in many places!

I have directed more musicals than I can count in a variety of settings including: Broadway Camps, High School, Elementary School, Private Companies, church programs , mainstream education, special needs student programming and of course my favorite place I like to call home Kick It Up!

I am so excited to be working on the ground up to help create a program that I know will add value to our children's lives. Some of the things I feel strongly about is being inclusive of everyone, making sure it doesn't conflict with our other programs, being cost effective, and giving our children the experience of doing a show! Being in a musical is not just about the lines, notes, and dance moves it's learning to work together as a team, making new connections, preparing for the future, practicing those public speaking skills and feeling proud of what you can accomplish with some hard work. I look forward to meeting all of our new friends and making the characters from Dr. Seuss jump right of the page and onto the stage. Comment below and tell us your favorite Suess character!
